"Luck Killed Her"

Origin: Russia

There was once a time when emotions ruled the behaviour of humans, the way they thought, acted and reacted. They were immensely strong that most humans could not control them, they ran ramped through human flesh, destroying beyond repair. Many humans perished as the pure energy that these emotions evoked was far too strong for their frail, human hearts. Day after day, the people would pray to Gods who had forgotten about them, who were too far away or just didn't care enough to respond. They asked for help, for death, for anything but what their hearts could not comprehend. In many cases humans just cursed them for such sorrow that in turn would be their downfall.
As many young ones did at this time in life, a young girl fell in love. Such was the emotion  that her heart was ripped apart from the inside, rupturing and bursting in her chest. It stopped beating or even existing, yet she lived. The Banshee called for her death, yet the girl lived on, still alive and still dead. The humans, afraid of her 'affliction' banished her to the outlands, away from the populations. They feared the girl would infect the rest of the humans with her 'infectious disease'. Her love, however, could not leave her, so they travelled together. He by her side, wanting to help, but not having the power to do anything affective enough. They visited many towns, villages, cities and everywhere they went, the problem was the same:
Emotions were killing people. However, none was the same like the girl's case.

They could do nothing for the girl. Her soul would seem lost forever, she would wonder aimlessly among the living, forever un-dead. The boy felt a surge of emotions, likely to kill him in mere days. He felt sorrow and failure, Anger and bitterness, like none had ever experienced. To see his love's pain day after day, it chipped at his soul, diminishing his very being.
One night, by fire light the old Banshee approached the pair, they were not afraid, for to could do nothing to them. She spoke of a solution to all the deaths, to the girl's restless soul and for the human populations. She led them to her dwelling  in a forest that she claimed had what was needed. Her house was adorned with all sorts of creatures that most humans would run from, that struck fear deep into the stomachs of the pair. The Girl, and her Love remained, wanting a cure, wanting their life back. This could be their chance to be happy, and not die from a heart rupture. The Banshee saw the love for each other and granted them a favour, just a single favour for the pair. But at such a cost, hidden among her words and trickery that the lovers could not see the trap. She began the ceremony and called on the spirits of the four corners of Gaia. She stole the emotions from the humans, one by one they came when called, leaving what scraps the humans could manage. The Banshee added flesh sacrifices and what emerged from the emotions were people. First came simple, common emotions, like Love, Hate, Peace, Hope, Excitement, Happiness, Sorrow, Anger and Jealousy. Then the Banshee brewed more complex emotions, like Serendipity, Romance, Affection, Hostility, Malice and hundreds more. The banshee was able to steal segments of human souls, putting the combined result together to create human life. The girl did not have a soul and so the emotions she felt could not be separated but instead she would be re-born, where her feelings would loose strength, and after time they would simply bleed out. The Banshee said she was lucky to have such an opportunity, to make a perfect life for herself.
The girl's love was feeling such immense emotions of failure, the thought that he could not save his love pained him, that she would remained damned beyond his own single life. His emotions were too great that his soul and the Failure could not be separated. So the Banshee did what she could, because the boy had a whole soul, he became the embodiment of Failure. But the girl pleaded with the Banshee, her dead heart was breaking in a way that caused her such immense pain because she could not be with her love. The girl cried to such quantities that the Banshee's own soul wept with the sorrow and unfairness of this fate. There was nothing the old woman could do for the boy, but she could help the girl. She could set the lovers free; she could allow them to live an innocent life, in an ignorant world.
'A life without Sorrow,
A life lived whole'
The Banshee destroyed the girl, her body was diminished, returning it's values to Gaia. The Banshee sent her to another life where she would forget all that she had seen and felt.
The other humans could not see the Isotropic Emotions, as they did not care enough to see their own faults.
The girl did indeed forget everything and lived lives of numerous accounts. Though in her heart, bones and her very soul, she knew she was looking for something, for someone.

I, fortunately, do have written consent. Thanks to a few inside friends, I got to read this old story in the library a few months back. Ever since then I’ve been writing away, because this basically gives me a great back-story to something I’ve been writing for ages! I finally go the rights and everything so I can put this here and now I can continue to write, knowing I have something to reference once things get tricky. So I just wanted to share this with all of you, it’s pretty good right? I love myths and tales, this has to be in my top five faves now! So enjoy, and please give me some feed back!

Oh, I said to :iconpixieevil: that I was working on a non Labyrinth related story starter, so here! Enjoy eh?
